Le Strand helps international families choosing schools in Miami and across South Florida bring each child's needs, application timing, school visits and daily journeys into the decision about where to live. Each school runs its own admissions process, and Le Strand coordinates the family timetable around it.

Bring your children's needs, application timing, school visits and daily journeys into the decision about where to live in South Florida.

Your family

Start with the child's needs and the family timetable

The right property brief depends on more than bedrooms and an address. A school move can affect the arrival date, daily travel, records to prepare and the support a child needs during the transition. To line up an origin school year with Florida entry dates, see School years by country and Florida grade entry.

Le Strand connects these requirements with the family's residence, immigration arrangements and existing professional advice. Education becomes part of the Landing Plan from the beginning.

The Landing Plan

What we help bring together

A clear family brief

Outline the intended move date, school stages, curriculum preferences, learning needs and practical routines. Detailed educational or medical records belong with the appropriate professional through the agreed process.

Application and visit timing

Identify the dates and information that need to be confirmed directly with the schools under consideration. Coordinate visits and applications with the family's travel and residence decisions.

Location and daily journeys

Consider the school journey alongside work, activities and household routines when comparing locations. Where a property decision is already made, identify the education and family arrangements that still need attention.

Educational introductions and local support

Coordination with your educational advisers and relevant introductions can form part of the agreed scope. Schools retain responsibility for admissions decisions. Appointed educational and healthcare professionals remain responsible for their services.

School visits

Schools where children are known by their teachers.

Families often describe what they want from a school in simple terms: children known by their teachers, and good supervision through the day. Le Strand helps you turn that into a shortlist and a visit plan. We gather each school's published information, arrange visits around your scouting trip and prepare the questions you want answered in person: how staff come to know each child, how arrival, breaks and dismissal are supervised, how campus access works and how the school keeps in touch with families. Le Strand coordinates the visits, the introductions and the link between your shortlist and the home search.

For families moving from Singapore

Begin with the school timetable

If your family is considering South Florida for the 2027-28 school year, the school timetable may begin before the physical move. Gulliver Prep, for example, opened applications on 1 September 2026, lists 15 January 2027 as its admissions application deadline and says decisions will be shared on 26 February 2027. Those are Gulliver's published dates, not a common timetable for every Miami school.

Before fixing the property shortlist, create one row for each child: current school calendar, intended entry grade, application status, records and recommendations still required, visit or assessment arrangements, and the date by which an offer must be answered. Confirm every item directly with the receiving school.

Then test potential homes against the campuses and ordinary weekly journeys the family is actually considering. Keep school admission, immigration timing and property availability separate until each is confirmed. The 2027–28 public application dates are set out in Miami school admissions for 2027–28.

Le Strand brings the South Florida residence search, your immigration timetable and the family's wider landing plan together, alongside the advisers the family already trusts. Each school runs its own admissions process, and Le Strand coordinates the family timetable around it.

2027 family landing calendar

Use verified dates to control the wider move

Gulliver Prep's admissions page lists 1 September 2026 as the opening date for 2027–28 applications, 15 January 2027 as the admissions-application deadline and 26 February 2027 as the date decisions are shared. Its financial-aid deadlines are separate: 1 November 2026 for current Gulliver families and 1 December 2026 for new families, with all required documentation.

Miami Country Day School states that 2027–28 applications are open. Its published grade pathways show completed-checklist dates of 13 November for Early Decision and 22 January for Regular Decision, with decisions on 11 December and 26 February respectively. Families should confirm the applicable year, grade pathway and conditions directly with the school.

These are school-specific examples, not a South Florida admissions calendar. A submitted application, a completed checklist, an assessment, a decision and an accepted offer are different stages. Record the actual stage for each child and use the school's current instruction as the controlling source.

Moving to South Florida in 2027

The family landing calendar

September–October 2026 · Define the family brief

Confirm the intended school year and entry grade for each child. Ask each school which application route applies and which dates control the file. Build the first residence brief around intended use, timing, budget, relevant campuses, work locations and essential household requirements. Mark every unconfirmed school outcome as an assumption. For children in school in England, UK school year to US grade sets out England's year groups and Florida's entry ages.

November–December 2026 · Complete what can be completed

Use each school's own portal and checklist to track records, recommendations, assessments and financial-aid documents. Compare locations against one residence brief and the family's ordinary weekly journeys. Give every unresolved decision an owner, a controlling source and a next review date. For Palm Beach County public school Choice programmes, the 2027–2028 dates are in Palm Beach County School Choice deadlines for 2027-28.

January 2027 · Protect the deadlines

Recheck every school deadline against the current primary source and the family's portal. Update the residence brief after the application status is clear. If the family is considering buying, renting or using an interim residence, show the different handover and diligence sequences.

February–March 2027 · Turn decisions into sequence

When a school decision arrives, record the response instructions and date exactly. Then revisit the home shortlist, travel assumptions, temporary accommodation and the advisers who depend on the outcome. Keep the school decision and property decision separate until each is complete.

Spring–summer 2027 · Prepare the handover

Confirm the residence handover, essential appointments, school-entry requirements and the records that must move between providers. Give the relevant advisers the latest confirmed dates and list the dependencies that remain open.

One current family timetable

For every material milestone, record the decision, current status, controlling source, responsible person, next action and review date. Keep one current version, and preserve dated source links so every decision rests on a confirmed source.

Arrival records

Prepare school-entry health records before the handover

Florida Department of Health guidance says students making their initial entry into a Florida school must present a school-entry health examination completed within one year before enrollment. It also explains the Florida Certification of Immunization process. The receiving school and an appropriate healthcare provider should confirm the family's actual requirements. The state enrolment records and the Broward and Palm Beach County registration lists are set out in Enrolling in school after moving to South Florida.

Keep each date tied to its confirmed source as it moves between conversations, so the flight, the school start, the property handover and each legal milestone stay aligned. Give each adviser the same latest confirmed dates and keep unresolved dependencies visible.

The Landing Plan

How education fits the Landing Plan

The written plan connects priorities, open decisions, responsibilities and timing. It can bring school requirements together with residence decisions, travel, immigration work and household arrangements.

Le Strand coordinates around your existing immigration counsel, or introduces independent counsel, and dates their work into the family timetable. Existing advisers remain involved in the work for which they are responsible.

Questions

Questions families ask

When should a family moving from Singapore begin planning Miami schools?

Begin as soon as the intended school year and entry grade are known. A current Miami example is Gulliver Prep: 2027-28 applications opened on 1 September 2026, close on 15 January 2027 and decisions are scheduled for 26 February 2027. Each school sets its own process, so verify the receiving school's dates before fixing the home or arrival timetable.

How does Le Strand work with school admissions?

Each school runs its own admissions process. Le Strand coordinates your family's timetable around it: the visits, the location requirements, the relevant introductions and the date each application needs.

Can we start before choosing a school or a home?

Yes. The initial work can connect the education and property requirements before either decision is settled.

What if we already have a home in Florida?

The engagement can begin with the arrangements still needed: education, local introductions, household routines and the timing of the move.

Can our existing educational adviser remain involved?

Yes. We agree responsibilities and local coordination around the professional relationships you already have.

What should we share at the first conversation?

A brief outline of the intended move, school stages, timing and what needs attention first. The consultation establishes the useful scope of work before detailed records are requested through the appropriate process.

How does Le Strand help us look at supervision and safety when choosing a school?

Le Strand helps you build a shortlist from each school's published information, arranges visits and prepares the questions you want answered in person, such as how staff come to know each child and how arrival, breaks, dismissal and campus access are supervised. Le Strand coordinates the visits, the introductions and the link between your shortlist and the home search.
