KKR, Palantir and a16z:
What South Florida’s Business Expansion Means for Your Move
KKR opened an office in Brickell in March. Palantir’s February filing lists its principal executive offices in Aventura. In September, Andreessen Horowitz announced plans for an American Dynamism regional headquarters in West Palm Beach. These are different kinds of expansion, in different municipalities, with different implications for a family’s household and home.
Three prominent announcements point to three different places. For an internationally mobile family or founder, the useful question is where your working life will actually happen, and how a home can support it.
The short version
Three addresses. Three different moves.

If you are moving a business or household to South Florida, “Miami” is too broad to guide your home search. A recurring meeting in Brickell, an office assignment in Aventura and a developing business relationship in West Palm Beach belong in different versions of your ordinary week.
The 2026 announcements offer something more useful than a general story about companies moving south. They show where particular activities are taking shape: client relationships, executive leadership and investment in selected industries. Understanding that distinction helps you decide which news affects your life now, which deserves a visit and which can remain a longer-term consideration.
The dated facts
- 25 March · Brickell, City of Miami. KKR announced that its new office had opened. It supports the firm’s client and partner solutions business, including relationships with institutional, family-capital and private-wealth clients across the region, particularly Latin America. This was an office expansion. KKR’s announcement
- 17 February · Aventura, Miami-Dade County. Palantir’s annual filing identifies its principal executive offices at 19505 Biscayne Boulevard, Suite 2350, and lists its former Denver address. The filing establishes the executive address; it does not say every employee will work there. Palantir’s SEC filing
- 10 September · West Palm Beach, Palm Beach County. Andreessen Horowitz announced plans for an American Dynamism regional headquarters at CityPlace Tower. The release describes the practice’s $1.176 billion fund, whose investment activity is nationwide. It gives no opening date. Official announcement through Related Ross
Brickell: when client relationships shape the week
KKR’s stated purpose makes this announcement particularly relevant if your work involves institutional clients, family capital or relationships across Latin America. Its significance to your own location depends on whether those relationships translate into repeated, confirmed time in the district.
There is an established headquarters presence here as well. Citadel announced its Miami move in 2022 and currently lists its global headquarters at 830 Brickell Plaza. That earlier decision provides context for the 2026 office news; it should not be counted as another new relocation this year. Citadel’s current Miami office
Consider an illustrative household: one partner has three fixed office days in Brickell; the other works with overseas colleagues; a child’s confirmed school is elsewhere. The home search should test all three requirements together. A beautiful residence that makes one person’s morning simple may impose a difficult daily journey on everyone else.
Visit shortlisted homes during the hours you would actually leave and return. Include the school journey, the need for quiet calls at home and how late meetings change collection arrangements. You are testing a repeatable week, rather than choosing a neighbourhood because a prominent firm has an address there.
Aventura: ask which office your role belongs to
An executive address is concrete evidence of corporate location. Your own workplace needs another layer of detail: the team you will join, your required attendance, where clients are seen and whether temporary arrangements precede a permanent office.
That distinction matters for an employer-sponsored move. Before a housing search narrows around a headquarters headline, obtain the assigned workplace and start date from the employer. A household arriving for a specific role should not have to discover later that the employee’s routine differs from the corporate address used in the announcement.
For a founder considering the area, the relevant question is different: which people or operations do you need to reach, and have those meetings or relationships been established? The presence of a company nearby does not itself provide access to its customers, staff or procurement process.
Aventura also deserves to be named accurately. It is in Miami-Dade County, separate from the City of Miami. Keeping that distinction in your planning avoids comparing homes against an imprecise destination.
West Palm Beach: give the fund’s mandate its proper weight
The regional headquarters announcement is easier to interpret alongside the fund’s earlier history. On 9 January 2026, a16z announced its $1.176 billion American Dynamism fund as part of a broader fundraising round. The fund therefore predates the September West Palm Beach announcement. Its size should not be recast as a new commitment to Florida property or local businesses. a16z’s January fundraising announcement
The practice focuses on fields including defense, aerospace, manufacturing, public safety and supply chains. That makes the news more directly relevant to some founders than to others. American Dynamism’s stated focus
If your company works in a relevant field, a useful first step is to establish whether there is a real reason for repeated engagement in West Palm Beach. Consider the investment mandate, your company’s stage and the purpose of an introduction before treating geographic proximity as an advantage. Investment remains a separate decision by the firm.
An illustrative founder might expect occasional investor meetings in West Palm Beach while keeping an operating team in Miami. That pattern calls for a different home decision from a new executive whose confirmed office is in West Palm Beach throughout the week. A single desirable address need not serve every possible future meeting equally well.
The planned regional headquarters also has a different timetable from an already opened office. Until the relevant team, opening arrangements and your own contact are confirmed, keep the announcement in the portion of your plan that can be revised.
A home should serve the recurring journey
Begin by separating three kinds of obligation: fixed attendance, regular but adjustable meetings, and occasional visits. Add the corresponding school and household commitments. You can then see which journeys will repeat often enough to shape daily life.
For a family whose professional relationships span Miami-Dade and Palm Beach counties, choosing a point between them may look balanced on a map. It may also create two demanding journeys instead of one. Compare that approach with living near the most frequent obligation and grouping less frequent meetings into specific days. Test actual routes; do not build a long-term plan around an unverified travel-time promise.
A second illustrative family might retain its established school routine while one parent explores a new business presence. An initial stay with appropriate flexibility may help establish the real weekly pattern before the whole household changes its base. Check the terms, costs and suitability of any accommodation rather than assuming that short-term flexibility is available everywhere.
The scale of a corporate announcement cannot answer whether a particular home suits your family or is fairly priced. Assess the property, building obligations and ongoing costs on their own evidence. A company’s arrival supplies context, not an automatic residential premium.
Put the decision in your own timetable
If you already have an employment arrangement, start with the confirmed workplace and the household’s intended arrival. If you are exploring a new business base, start with the relationships and activities that justify being here. Those two situations should not be pushed into the same moving schedule.
For an international household, bring that proposed activity and timing to the immigration, tax and other advisers responsible for your circumstances. Then make the home and school decisions consistent with the plan they are helping you establish.
The strongest conclusion from these announcements is that South Florida offers several distinct places to build a working life. Your choice becomes clearer when you can say which one you need, how often you need it and who else in the family the decision must serve.
A quick reference
Three questions, answered.
Are all these companies moving their headquarters to Miami?
The announcements describe different actions: KKR opened a Brickell office; Palantir’s filing records principal executive offices in Aventura; a16z plans a regional headquarters for its American Dynamism practice in West Palm Beach. They should not be treated as identical headquarters moves.
Is the $1.176 billion American Dynamism fund a Florida investment commitment?
The official announcement describes a fund with nationwide investment activity. It does not assign that sum to Florida companies, local property or the new office.
Should you choose a home near the best-known company?
Choose around the work, school and household routines you can substantiate. A prominent company matters to your home decision when it changes a real part of your week.
